Pictures: 5¢

So I usually wouldn't do this, but I got a little steamed up over an article on PDN, so I decided to "blog" about it. How trendy. And potentially annoying.

Instead of putting the entire thing in this post, I linked it here so it wouldn't get in the way of the photos of the day. Enjoy!

  1. Interesting, and I totally agree. The shift to digital is an amazing thing. I won't deny that a relatively cheap DSLR being available is responsible for me getting more involved with photography and pushing myself to learn as much as I could about something that I had previously thought out of reach. However, it bothers me that anyone with an entry level DSLR and kit lens can convince people they are professionals.

Gear doesn't make the photographer. This applies in different ways at both ends of the spectrum. A true professional should be able to produce a quality product regardless of the gear he/she is using. On the other hand, a novice with amazing gear isn't a professional because of what they shoot with. It is the people that fall into the latter category that are ruining it for everyone.
